Once again this year, renowned poet and novelist Wojciech Kuczok has accepted Artur Rojek’s invitation to oversee the artistic side of the OFF Café. A Cinematic Look Back at the OFF Club

We present to you two videos from the 2012 edition of the OFF Club. This year’s event was the first to feature an all-new format, with Barn Owl, A Hawk And A Hacksaw, and Tim Hecker performing music to films by Anka and Wilhelm Sasnal, Sergei Parajanov, and Werner Herzog. The OFF Club performance marked a movie soundtrack debut for both Barn Owl and Tim Hecker.

OFF Festival Katowice 2012: Doctor Spot vs. DOOM

Who’s Doctor Spot? If that pseudonym doesn’t ring a bell, then you’d better brush up on classic Polish cinema! We recommend you start with Andrzej Kondratiuk’s Hydrozagadka, because this year’s OFF Festival will feature the British avant-garde group Chrome Hoof performing the music to this cult comedy live! The lineup in Katowice will also feature a certain artist known as DOOM, who jumped off the pages of Marvel comics to roam the streets of New York City.

Artur Rojek: Cultural Manager of the Year

Artur Rojek, the creator and artistic director of the OFF Festival, has won the title of this year’s “Best Cultural Manager.” The distinction was presented as part of TVP Kultura’s annual Guarantee of Culture awards, given to the season’s most interesting artists and cultural events. The jury recognized Rojek for his “proactive thinking and for creating a musical event that serves as an antidote to most crude and gaudy media spectacles.”
