OFF Festival Katowice 2012: See You Next Year!

That was one unforgettable weekend: Metronomy’s dancy beats, the wild sounds of Atari Teenage Riot, the living magic of Charles Bradley, the insanity of Swans, the phenomenal Battles, and the charismatic Thurston Moore, Kim Gordon, Stephen Malkmus, and Henry Rollins, and, last but not least, the one and only living legend, Iggy Pop and his raucous company. The seventh annual OFF Festival will go down in history.

Thanks for being there with us, for smiling at each other, for partying until dawn, and for giving us something to miss. Thank you for being quiet and focused like a philharmonic audience at the acoustic shows, and for showing the artists what it means to go crazy when they brought the roaring guitars out on stage. Thanks for the discussions over pints of beer and the difficult questions at the Literary Café. Thanks for being the best audience in the world. It’s official now.

We still have to pack up, take down the stages, and move out of the hospitable Dolina Trzech Stawów — and as soon as we’re done with that, we’ll get started on planning the eighth OFF Festival. We hope you’ll join us there in August 2013. We’ll do all we can to make it every bit as good as the one we just wrapped up. See you then.
