George Lewis Jr. was born in the Dominican Republic, grew up in Florida, and earned his musical stripes in New York under the watchful eye of Grizzly Bear’s Chris Taylor, who took the reins as producer. Not everyone is fortunate enough to debut on the legendary 4AD label, but Twin Shadow and his album Forget are completely worthy of the distinction. Don’t be fooled by the record’s title — once you’ve got these sounds in your head, you’re going to have trouble forgetting them. It’s a one of a kind mix of 80s New Wave with contemporary, experimental indie-pop. There’s no doubt about it: Twin Shadow is one of the most significant debuts of 2010.
